Sea Science...

This term in science we have been learning about what  makes something living.
We learnt about MRS GREN. Mrs Gren is NOT a person... it is an mneumonic (that means letters or words that help us remember something). MRSGREN helps us remember seven characteristics of living things):

We learnt that all living things:
- Move
- Respire (that means breathe)
- Sense the world (like through sight, hearing, tasting, touching and smelling)
- Grow
- Reproduce  themselvse
- Excrete (get rid of waste materials from your body...)
- Need nutrition

We created a fact file to show these characteristics in interesting sea Animals:
What do you think?

I really like your Sea Science blog post and I thought that it was really cool that you shared all about living things. I have never seen that type of art that you just did and it was cool that you put writing in them because people can learn stuff about Sea Science. How long did it take to do this and do you all like it?

  2. Kia ora I'm Casey from Yaldhurst Model School. I love the giant squid and the dolphin was awesome too! I also love the life cycle of the squid! This post reminded me of my old school and when my old class and I all did independent inquiry. My inquiry was about angler fish in year one, in year two my inquiry was about otters. What is your favourite animal from the sea? Sincerely Casey

  8. Tena koutou. I liked your sea drawing because it was colorful. I think your drawing is great work because you added lots of detail. Maybe you can add some words in your drawing. What drawing was your favourite? From Sahil :)

  9. Hi Sahil, thanks for your comments. I enjoyed drawing the life cycle. I like the drawing bit not so much the writing bit. It was funny because it goes from being a baby, to an adult, to a flat pancake! - From Luke

  11. Good Afternoon Buddy Class,

We hope you are having a Happy Monday! Room 7 really liked your amazing, giant sea squid and grey Dolphin coloured pictures. We admired your creative sea creature images and are keen to draw some of our own. Last term we made individual 'Rainbow Fish' pastel drawings - which were bright and imaginative.

Moe - would like to know if your art session was fun?
Spencer - wondered what have you discovered about giant squid and dolphins? Also did you learn about any other sea creatures?

    Wishing you a great week.

    Take care, Room 7
